well, ive been so busy trying to fix my wordpress woes that i completely missed my one year blogiversary this month! oh little blog, how quickly time passes, how quickly you grow. it seems like just yesterday i was sitting at my desk creating your template and adjusting your php scripts. and now…just look at you. im so proud…
im still working to resolve the wordpress issue. it looks like it has something to do with the new server platform my host switched to not reading some extra spaces in the php config files. ive opened a ticket with my host and told them to OH MY GOD FIX IT NOW….NOW I SAY! so we will see how that goes.
until then? blogging will continue but will be sporadic (more so than usual).

so i apologize for the lack of blogging recently, but my blog is STILL NOT FIXED. and to make it worse, i now have a new primary computer at work, so im rarely on this one….the ONLY computer i can access my blog from.
im working on it though. im about to contact my host. i think this has something to do with the way subdomains are set up on their great and wonderful new platform.
wish me luck people…

i spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, ankle-cuffed to a slow, but acceptable PC in a little cubicle that lacks any natural sunlight whatsoever at all. thats a lot of time in a very unstimulating environment. because of this, i try to find things to do to keep the right half of my brain from slowly decaying. one of these is blogging. i typically update my blog from work. it just makes sense to do so. but there are some rare occasions where i feel the need to update from home. monday was one of these occasions. so…i changed into comfy pajamas, got myself a nice cup ‘o tea and settled down at my little ikea composite board desk to update. i typed in the address for the wordpress login screen on my site and…
HORROR!
a blank screen.
no username prompt, no password prompt, not even a server is busy or page not found error, just bright blaring white nothingness. immediately i assumed that the server was down, which isnt supposed to happen with my host, so i was already constructing a very angry i-pay-a-lot-of-money-to-you-people email in my head as i typed in the plain old digitalphiltrum address just to check it. and….
my site was there, perfectly snug and happy, no issues.
i scratched my head.
so….my site is fine. i can read my blog. i just cant log into it to update or administrate or any of those other things…from home. i can do so from work. no problem.
i dont get it.
ive tried disabling all my plugins from work and then trying to login again from home. ive tried replacing all my wordpress files, ive even tried updating php on my computer.
still nothing.
so…is there anyone out there who uses wordpress who might have an idea on what to do about this?

so the company that is unfortunate enough to employ me, SinkingShip Inc., is in the process of relocation to, what they tell me but i am hesitant to believe, a bigger and obviously much better office. as a result, there have been a lot of calls to get rid of unnecessary paper, equipment and other junk so that we have less to transport with us when our department moves. to try to encourage this disposal, they put these giant orange bins all around the office and sent out an email telling us that these things were for us to use to dispose of unwanted materials. well, all of upper management certainly wouldnt fit in just one bin, so i was forced to just get rid of some old papers and a harry and david moose munch hat box that had, at some point, contained multiple bags of caramel popcorn treats, but for the past year or so has just taken up space in my bottom desk drawer.
anyway… i had my D50 with me at work last week breifly, and i took a picture of one of those orange bins, for the sake of nostalgia. i wanted to share it with you all…

im an optimist. can’t you tell?

firstly, i’d like to thank the lovely folks over at Powweb Hosting for failing to inform me that their “migration” to a new server platform would alter the address of my ftp server. not only was i unable to update or even access my blog this weekend, but i was also unable to update anything on my site. i still cant access wordpress from my home computer, but im sure that probably has something to do with some sort of firewall ive accidentally set up in order to keep people – including myself – out of my computer.
secondly – my baby brother, Q, turned 21 last week!! and, even more exciting, he lived to tell about it!
we, his older and much wiser siblings, took him out to dinner (burger and beer) and then on a fells point pub crawl. the crawl actually only was 2 bars, because by 11 pm he was in the bathroom at Max’s…which is where he stayed….for 45 minutes. i wasnt in there, but i have heard reports of the kissing of a toilet seat (um…ew) and of possibly passing out on a bathroom floor. (dear Q, try to remember this rhyme in the future, beer before liquor—never been sicker).
there is plenty more i could tell, but i will spare him the embarassment. instead, i will do what any loving, older sister would do—i will post pictures on the internet for all the world to see. my apologies for the poor quality, all we had were cell phones for our kodak moments..

Q, apparently still sober enough to know we are mocking him

Ok…5 minutes later – not so sober anymore.

A casual spewing stop at a tree

And, what birthday is complete without decorations?
